Week 12 Picks

with 3 comments

Jon and I just can’t seem to have an odd number of picks to differ on.  We only differ on two picks this week, making it a strong possibility we’ll split even on picks for the fourth week in a row.  On the other hand, I have the perfect number to catch up on the two-pick difference we have this season.  Or for Jon to open up a nearly insurmountable lead…

Jon:  162-42

Austin:  160-44

This week Jon has Northwestern over No. 16 Wisconsin and I have Ole Miss redeeming their season with an upset over No. 8 LSU.

  1. I’m going with Jon’s “upset” of LSU over Mississippi (Ole Miss is a 3-point favorite, I think). I’ll take Arizona over Oregon at home (call it wishful thinking). Ohio State, Iowa, Penn State, and Wisconsin all win, leaving only Wisconsin to win their last regular season game to give the Big 10 four teams with 10 wins this season. Interesting. My only upset alert this week is for Penn State… the Michigan State offense is really starting to come to life late in the season, and Penn State’s had about 12-straight unimpressive quarters of football going into East Lansing.

    • Ole Miss is a three point favorite because they run the ball well, LSU is 41st in the nation in rushing defense (allowing almost 127 yards per game) and LSU stinks on the road. One of their two losses is on the road, and in there other three road games, they have defeated Washington by 8, Mississippi State by 3 and Georgia by 7. Those are some pretty bad teams to be barely beating. And Ole Miss is hot right now. I think Ole Miss will beat the spread easily.

  2. Well, we split again. lol. I’d say this virtually locks it for Jon. With only a couple of weeks to go, it’s gonna be pretty much impossible for me to close that two-pick gap.
